Founded in 1985, Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley is a non-profit, Christian-based community organization dedicated to building, renovating, and repairing safe, decent, and affordable housing for hard-working, low-income families in our community. Habitat's office is located at 772 4th St. SW in Hickory and ReStore is located at 1615 8th St Dr SE in Hickory next to Aldi's and across from Home Depot.
We build houses through partnerships with diverse segments of the community--churches and temples, businesses and individuals, service clubs and foundations. Thanks to this support from the community, Habitat has built over 165 houses in Catawba County.
Habitat families work hard to be homeowners, and they pay as great a percentage of their monthly income to their house payment as most other homeowners do. Houses are sold to selected qualified families at no profit, financed with affordable loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments are used to build still more Habitat houses.
We are a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International and are governed by a local Board of Directors. We build homes solely in Catawba County.
