Villanova Students to Lend a Hand to Habitat Catawba Valley

The Catawba Valley will be invaded by Villanova Nation October 8-15 as 16 students take part in Villanova’s Fall Break Service and Justice Experience Program. A reception for the group will be held October 13 at 5:30 at the Habitat ReStore. The public is invited to attend.

Habitat for Humanity of Catawba Valley is one of 16 organizations, domestic and worldwide that Villanova volunteer will be serving this fall. In all, 250 students will be participating in service trips this fall.

Villanova UniversityWhile in Catawba County, the students will be working on both new construction and Habitat Repairs! projects. The group will be hosted by First United Methodist Church of Hickory. In addition to serving on the worksites, the students will also spend time engaging with the local community at church dinners, community gatherings, and local attractions.  Habitat is thankful to local churches and groups that are providing meals to the students.

Habitat is seeking churches or individuals willing to provide a meal for the group while they are here. Please contact Community Outreach Coordinator Jenna Cucco at 828-328-4663. There are also opportunities to volunteer to work with the Villanova students.
