Two Habitat for Humanity families are working hard toward the completion of their homes in the affiliate’s Northstone neighborhood. They’ve completed most of their sweat equity hours, have paid their down payments and attended homeownership preparation classes. The only thing standing in the way is the funding needed to complete their homes.
For Mahongany the wait for her house has been long. “I was very excited because this is my third time trying to get into the program. I’m ready to become a homeowner and to be able to call this home mine!” Mahongany, who works at Hickory’s Kingston Residence, is the smiling face that greets residents and guests for breakfast and lunch. She and her two daughters are currently living in a crowded 2-bedroom apartment and look forward to having their own yard in which to play. Mahongany also looks forward to the quiet that comes when there isn’t an upstairs tenant walking around.
